ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO- Our team at Couch Potato Sports (CPS) have finalized our Mountain West Players of the Week segment for both men’s and women’s basketball. The respective players were selected for their play during the week of 1/12-1/18.

CPS MW PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (JAN. 6)

Player of the Week (men’s)

Utah State’s Mason Falslev

STATS: 25.5 ppg, 1 spg, 2.5 apg, 8.5 rpg, and 6 three-pointers.

INSIGHT: Despite a tough loss on the road to GCU, Falslev was nothing short of spectacular in both of the Aggies games this week. The junior guard averaged 15.5 points per game, and also logged a double-double against the Antelopes.

Freshman of the Week (men’s)

UNM’s Jake Hall

STATS: 18.5 ppg, 3 apg, 2.5 rpg, 54.15% on field goals, and 54.8% on three-pointers.

INSIGHT: The Lobos freshman class continues to impress, and Hall has been more hot than cold lately. The San Diego native averaged 18.5 points per game, and continues to climb up the single-season record of three-pointers made by a UNM freshman. Hall currently has 51 three-pointers, and needs just five more to break the record.

Player of the Week (women’s)

Fresno State’s Emilia Long

STATS: 21.5 ppg, 2 spg, 4 apg, 2.5 rpg, 62% on field goals, and 62.5% on three-pointers.

INSIGHT: Fresno State had a couple of statement wins against Utah State and Nevada, and at the center of it all was their star senior guard. Long averaged 21.5 points per game, and shot 62% on field goals, and 62.5% on three-pointers.

Freshman of the Week (women’s)

Grand Canyon’s Ines Zounia

STATS: 14 ppg, 1.5 bpg, 4 rpg, 65.15% on field goals, and 66.7% on three-pointers.

INSIGHT: Grand Canyon is on a three-game win streak while holding a 5-3 conference record. An important part of their rotation is freshman guard Ines Zounia. Last week, the French native averaged 14 points a game while shooting 65.15% on field goals and 66.7% on three-pointers.
