RIO RANCHO- Couch Potato Sports celebrates New Mexico high school athletes every week. Athletes are nominated by THE PEOPLE, and are voted by THE PEOPLE. Here are the six athletes who were voted as the CPS Athletes of the Week presented by Transend.

  1. Albuquerque point guard Abby Pavia (freshman)- In one game against Cibola, Pavia put up 31 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and five steals
  2. La Cueva point forward/ small forward Hunter Butler (senior)- In two games, Butler had 22 points 13 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and four blocks.
  3. Rio Rancho point guard/ shooting guard Madilynn Martinez (sophomore)- In the Gallup Invitational (three games), Martinez scored in double figures in all games, and put 27 points against Tohatchi.
  4. Moriarty XC runner Carmen Dorsey-Spitz (junior)- Dorsey-Spitz won the Brooks XC West Championship with a 17:38.7 time. With the win, Dorsey-Spitz will head to San Diego for the Brooks XC Championships.
  5. Hobbs point guard Lyric Soria (junior)- Hobbs had a busy week playing four games in one week, and thus far, Soria is the top scorer. Against Centennial, Soria scored 17 points in their 60-17 win.
  6. Rio Rancho forward/guard Cayden Richardson (senior)- The Rams dominated the City of Champions Classic in Artesia, and a big reason for that was standout senior Cayden Richardson. In three games, Richardson had 33 points, 18 rebounds, 10 assists, 4 steals, and six blocks.
