Couch Potato Sports celebrates New Mexico high school athletes every week, and lets the people vote on who they believe deserves some recognition. Here are the six athletes who were voted as the CPS Athletes of the Week presented by Velocity Sports Performance

  1. Las Cruces running back Danny Amaro- 234 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, and one passing touchdown. With the win, the Las Cruces Bulldawgs advance to the 6A state championship.

2. Cleveland receiver Evan Nanez- 300 all-purpose yards, five receiving touchdowns, and one kick return touchdown. Nanez helped the Storm defeat Hobbs, and advance to the 5A state championship game.

3. St. Michael’s running back/slot receiver Isaiah Dominguez- 272 rushing yards, four rushing touchdowns, 46 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown. After his stellar performance, Dominguez also won the Sports Primo Player of the Game.

4. Volcano Vista wrestler Santino Martinez- the eighth grader went 6-0 at Conquer the Glyphs Duals with four pins. One of Santino’s wins came against a state champion from the prior wrestling season.

5. Cleveland quarterback Jordan Hatch- six passing touchdowns, and 322 passing yards. With the big game, Hatch helped the Storm advance to 6A state championship game (his third title appearance as a starter).

6. Eldorado cross country runner Gianna Rahmer- At the NXR South West cross country race (Mesa, Arizona), Rahmer recorded a 16:54.87 time which placed her fourth, and will send her to Nike Cross Nationals Dec. 6 in Portland, Oregon.
